How I Found Joy Through Love
Updated: Feb 15, 2019
Ever since I was a little girl I knew I wanted to love someone with all my heart, be creative, and give everything I have to the world that surrounds me. Finding my way through relationships, education, business endeavors, and raising children with utter JOY in my heart did not come natural. Joy meant happiness in all things and at the time, when I first started running Two Lemons In Love with my mom, I was transitioning out of a relationship where I had let my self-worth be completely compromised. Life was hard. I became a co-parenting mom, a business owner, and a single woman in her 30's with a burning desire to love and be loved, in what seemed like a matter of months. I had no idea how these dreams I had for myself were ever going to work out, but I could feel it so deeply that I knew all I had to do was believe. Sometimes when our hearts are trying to lead us in a certain direction all we have to do is relent to the process of being led. It's not always about knowing HOW all the details are going to work out, or even WHEN. Sometimes its just about knowing ourselves well enough to SIT BACK and watch it all unfold.
It wasn't long that all the praying and believing that I would one day get to "love and be loved", suddenly turned in to me falling-in-love, getting married, and having another baby. Not only that, but my husband saw in me the same things I saw for myself and gave his full support to the places I wanted to go with my business. There have been days that I find myself with such an enormous amount of gratitude because I know that without the foundation of my family, I wouldn't be able to grow a company like I am. Loving these three humans is what my dreams are made of, but I've also learned through this process that all the other dreams I have too, are worth just as much. Sharing all of the facets of who I am with the people I love and the community around me is my definition of joy. Finding JOY takes, patience, grace and forgiveness (lots and lots of forgiveness for yourself and others), and finding purpose and living it out with intention. When all of this in place there is a deep and meaningful connection to the life you live. If there is anything I can offer through my words it would be to SEEK JOY. Look for it in all things, and share it everywhere you go. There will never be a better time than right now to give yourself over to the process of following your heart. I know how scary the road can seem, I've been there. But in the end, there is an abundance of love and an enormous amount of joy waiting to infuse itself in everything you do.
